In 2014, I released the third My Autumn Empire album ‘The Visitation’. I hadn’t necessarily planned on making the follow up to ‘II’ quite so soon but, as epic45 continued to be dormant and Rob busied himself with Field Harmonics, I had nothing else to do so thought ‘why not?’.

I decided I’d continue the ‘classic pop’ sounds I’d explored on ‘II’ and ramp it up a bit more, adding more layers of synths and harmonies and a general upping of the production standards. I still don’t think I went far enough to be honest. Anyway, for the album’s release, I re-recorded a few of the songs for a bonus disc entitled ‘Revisitations’, playing and recording songs, that had originally taken me months to complete, in a single afternoon. In many ways, I prefer these versions.

The first five songs here are from that original release and the following two are ones I didn’t think fitted at the time (not sure why, listening back). The Blue Coat version at the end is all played live on a piano module linked to a Korg synth. I had an idea I could maybe do an entire gig with just me and a piano (and synth) but, in the end, bottled it. It’s not like I can play the piano very well anyway.
